JiHyun Yoon & Taiyun Kim combine hardware and programs or produce them by themselves with the goal to track how technological information is circulated and to show the process of critically re-interpreting them. Their artworks develop devices or their equivalents that replace the existing system or function as a parody.

<2013 : A/DD/A> is the 2nd round of work based on 2 million twitter data collected during the exhibition of <A/DD/A, 2012> at Media City Seoul (September 11~ November 04, 2012) and it presents the noise data, that are like space dust in the world of digital media, the space of media, in visual and audio forms.

The error message that goes "The Twitter REST API v1 is no longer active. Please migrate to API v1.1" shows that new media environments that are inevitably subject to 'open' data platform such as Google, Facebook and Twitter offering API(Application Programming Interface) and with the recognition of the issue, the artist attempts 'deconstruction' rather than 'migrate' to <2013 : A/DD/A>.

The more we hold onto fleeting moments of constantly modifying nature of digital media,
our absolute faith begin to crumble down as noise becomes louder and originality begins to lose shape.

- Ji-Hyun Yoon & Taiyun Kim

If <A/DD/A, 2012> is a comparison of new media and real life with the circular process of converting of A/D(Analog to Digital) and D/A(Digital to Analog) and noise created in the process to show structural weakness of digital media. <2013 : A/DD/A> dismantles the work just one years ago and defunctionalizes it physically. The replicated data that lost its use and purpose become noise and endlessly float around the media space. The way new media communicates with real life is similar to the converting process between digital and analog. The connected analog data is converted into disconnected digital data and the disconnected digital data again gathers together to imitate the original analog data. The data converted into digital form spreads out easily through network and pretends that it is original data. There is no way people can tell the difference. In the process of converting between digital and analog, noise is added as a key factor or sometimes it is created unintentionally. The noise shows the structural weakness of new media. The more you try to capture the moment of digital media that actually never exists in full shape, the bigger the noise gets and the thinner the original becomes and our absolute belief is challenged and shattered.

Artists still keep shouting out at the audience, "Go Out and Play".

<2013 : A/DD/A>는 2012년 작품인 <A/DD/A, 2012>의 미디어시티 서울 전시 기간(2012. 09. 11. ~ 11. 04.)

“The Twitter REST API v1 is no longer active.

A/D(Analog to Digital) 및
